More Battery Information

Rechargeable type battery recommendations:

Generally speaking, the higher the voltage the better the performance. SteriPEN water purifiers have been designed to accept the highest voltage RCR123 batteries on the market. RCR123 batteries with voltages up to 4.2V (per battery) are perfectly fine to use with the SteriPEN.

AW high voltage drain batteries will generally provide 35-40 liters of water per charge. These are available at www.4sevens.com

Batterystation.com brands their own batteries. These will generally provide 25-35 liters of water per charge. Not great, but acceptable.

Rechargeable batteries we DO NOT recommend for use with the SteriPEN Journey

Based on our experience, Tenergy batteries have inconsistent performance. Generally we do not recommend using them.

Adventurer / Traveler mini / Traveler mini opti / Protector purchases:

Hydro-Photon/SteriPEN-manufactured dual cell CR123 (ONLY sold with ADO-SC). As this is a dual-cell rechargeable battery it will not fit in the battery compartment of the SteriPEN Journey. All other batteries recommendations for the Journey are the same for these four models.
