Providing Safe Water To Those In Need

Working with Charity:Water, a charitable organization where 100% of donations go towards providing sustainable water sources, SteriPEN is participating in a campaign to help the people of Tigray, Ethiopia dig wells to provide clean, safe & sustainable drinking water sources for everyday life.

Women and kids walk hours in search of water there. A well nearby can restore valuable time to their day. Dirty water can cause diarrhea, even death, most often in kids. A clean water well can change that.

This Holiday Season, SteriPEN will donate 5% of ecommerce sales to the initiative and will match any donations submitted via our campaign website up to $500. 

Reducing Plastic Consumption In the Environment

8,000 plastic water bottles can be saved during the useful life of a SteriPEN portable water purifier!

An estimated 3.5 billion plastic water bottles are used and discarded worldwide by travelers annually. This  is hard on the environment, hard on the communities left with the garbage, it’s expensive, and it can often be unhealthy. In most cases, these impacts are vastly amplified in foreign destinations.

In collaboration with  Crooked Trails, a Seattle based non-profit and a leader in responsible travel and several other responsible organizations, SteriPEN supports and is contributing to  the TAP Campaign to spread awareness about the impacts of disposable plastic water bottles, and to educate outbound tour operators so they can help their clients utilize more environmentally-friendly water consumption methods  the next time they travel abroad. 

Customers at our ecommerce site, buysteripen.com, have the option to donate $1 to TAP upon purchase and SteriPEN will match that donation in support of this cause.

Contributing To Aid Efforts During Natural Disasters

SteriPEN has always been responsive to major natural disaster recovery efforts.

During the Haiti Earthquake of 2010, SteriPEN donated thousands of dollars in Sidewinder and Emergency product to provide aid workers and Hatians with access to safe drinking water immediately following the earthquake.

Superstorm Sandy proved devasting to New York and New Jersey, USA. Millions of Americans without power and many were without access to safe drinking water. SteriPEN visited the disaster zone immediately following the storm and donated several thousands of dollars in product to local residents in need, including a donation to the Ocean City, New Jersey Police Department.
