Our website has been completely updated to provide the information people need to make good decisions about water treatment and to help those in need of water purification find the right product. At Hydro-Photon, we care about all things related to water, its safety for consumption and its preservation. We believe that is also true of our customers and our goal is to make our new website a place you will visit regularly for information related to water issues, water treatment and SteriPEN products.
Hydro-Photon, Inc. was founded with a simple purpose: to develop ultraviolet light technology, the same technology used in municipal water treatment plants, for use in a personal, portable device that would provide the user with safe drinking water anywhere. And while we are still a small, young company, we have been inspired by the strong interest in SteriPEN both in the USA and around the world, where we are now sold in over 60 countries. The SteriPEN combination of effectiveness, speed and ease of use have impressed legions of users.
Our heritage has been serving the outdoor enthusiast, the adventurer and explorer, but the need for safe water extends far beyond. Our goal is to meet the needs of all consumers who want to ensure safe water access for themselves and their families. We invite you to explore our new website and share your feedback, both with us and your friends. Let us know if we are answering your questions and providing the information you need. Safe water access is a common concern for travelers, especially to developing countries where the water infrastructure is often poor. And while at home we may take safe water for granted, mother nature is often hostile and for those at risk, SteriPEN can help reduce the worry about having safe water.

What changes to the SteriPEN and when will they be available on the newer models ?? Does battery voltage such as 1.3v or 1.5v have any effect on the unit ??

Thanks for your interest in SteriPEN Traveler and Emergency. We just established retail placement on the new items at Amazon. On our website, you can see comparison charts for the new items. They generally provide the same basic function as our Outdoor products. Key differences vs. the Outdoor products are in the area of lower lamp life, reduced warranty coverage and, depending on model, custom pouch and batteries not included. If you will be a heavy user of the product, we recommend the Outdoor products.
As for batteries, the key thing we have found is to use brand name batteries as quality can vary. For our models using AA batteries, 1.3V NiMH rechargeables and 1.5V AA lithium batteries work well.
