Description

The sure solution for safe drinking water.

Easy-to-use. Just press button, place in water, and stir!

Operates on four AA batteries. Purifies 50 liters of water on one set of alkaline batteries or supercharge you Aqua with lithium batteries and you'll treat about 150 liters!

SteriPEN Aqua is the most economical UV water purifier around and since it carries the Water Quality Association’s Gold Seal, you can be sure it is safe and effective. In as little as 48 seconds, SteriPEN Aqua eliminates over 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and protozoa that cause water-borne illness.

Traveling to locations with questionable water quality? Tired of leaving a trail of plastic water bottles?
Concerned about where your family will find safe drinking water if there’s a disaster or boil water advisory?

Save money when traveling by using it to treat tap water rather than purchasing expensive bottled water. Use it in restaurants when visiting areas with questionable water quality. Bring it along on outdoor excursions to avoid carrying water supplies. At home, keep it with emergency supplies so you’ll have the security of knowing you’re prepared if your water supply should be compromised by a disaster or power outage.

SteriPEN Aqua quickly makes water safe to drink in three easy steps:

  1. Press button to activate
  2. Place lamp in water
  3. Stir

It’s that easy! When the treatment is complete, the lamp turns off and an LED indicator lights up so you know you can hydrate safely.

Since Aqua provides 3,000 treatments, you’ll feel secure for years to come.
Aqua pure. Aqua safe. Aqua sure.

Hi, I just bought my steri pen 2 weeks ago and am traveling with it in SE Asia.  The visible light will not stay on for the full water treatment, but the LED blinking light is saying it is safe to drink.  Is it safe?

Asked by: erinmarie
It turns out this was a problem with my rechargeable batteries - even fully charged, there must have been a voltage issue, as there was enough to run the the device, and the device flashed only green several times, indicating purified and battery life fine.  Changed to alkaline and now the light illuminates fully. :)  Glad to have it here in Vietnam.

Thanks for checking out the SteriPEN Aqua. We highly recommend the Aqua for travel use. It is also recommended that you use the SteriPEN Pre-Filter to ensure particulate is filtered out. You can check out the User's Guide below for instructions and details. https://www.steripen.com/user-guides/

Since bacteria hides in dirt and can shadow themselves from light exposure how can I be sure the pen will be effective?

Asked by: metoo
We recommend SteriPEN be used in clear water - water no darker than weak iced tea. If the water has sediment in it we recommend running it through a pre-filter prior to water purification. (SteriPEN Classic 3 includes a SteriPEN Pre-Filter.)

Will all your steripen models protect against bacteria for Cholera and Typhoid. I am travelling overseas to India and I want to make sure I buy the right model. I would prefer to use the Stripen aqua if that works

Asked by: Bluecoat
All SteriPEN models are effective against over 99.9% microorganisms in water, including bacteria that cause Cholera and Typhoid. All models use the same high-quality UV lamp for treating water and treat the water in the same length of time.

On your comparison page it gives the dimensions as 7.6 x 1.5 x 1.5 inches but the specs on the product page say 7.3 x 1.7 x 1.7 inches.  I would like to know which is correct.  I plan to use this backpacking and the size is important to me.

Asked by: backpacker
Thank you for pointing out this discrepancy! The correct measurements are 7.6 x 1.5 x 1.5.

Is there any difference in SteriPEN itself for the Aqua and the Classic 3?

Asked by: Jack
The difference between the two models is, the Classic 3 can be activated 8,000 times and comes with a three-year limited manufacturer's warranty, and a SteriPEN Pre-Filter. The Aqua can be activated 3,000 and comes with a one-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

SteriPEN has both a .5 and a 1 liter setting so I assume I can use it in a standard ! liter nalgene bottle, true? Also you speak only of volume, is there any difference in use with a short fat 1 liter container versus a taller skinnier bottle?

Asked by: Jack
Yes, you can use SteriPEN in a standard Nalgene bottle. The shape of the bottle shouldn't be so tall that the light from the UV lamp doesn't reach all areas of the bottle. The shape of a Nalgene bottle works very well.

Hi, will one of these pen lights work for travel. I was wondering if i used it on local drinks when I travel will it purify the drink ?

Asked by: David2676
SteriPEN is effective in clear water only. It is not effective in water that has ice, coffee or tea added to it. The UV light must be able to travel through the water; drink mixes, tea bags, and can ice block the light in some areas of the glass or bottle.
